Bluestone Projects

We are developing an exciting array of projects here at Bluestone. Here is a short list of the projects we are currently working on:

The Sawyer House: Our Farm was purchased with a existing 150 year old building on it and we are working together to preserve this local treasure and transform it into our first public structure. If you wish to contribute your building skills, assist with materials or just donate the funds we need to restore this jewel, contact us and we would love to give you a tour.

The Farm Stand: Bluestone Farms is establishing itself into a provider of fresh produce in the Tristate region of Pike County and have begun building out our farmstand business plan. We have a stellar location picked out with massive consumer traffic. Imagine a farm stand busting with fresh local vegetables, Freshly baked bread and a food truck with grass fed beef burgers.

The Saw Mill: the American Arts and crafts movement is alive and well at Bluestone. We have already purchased a Wood-Mizer portable band saw for milling our own local wood and are building a business to provide high end building materials, hand made furniture and much more from this powerful tool. Let us know if we can help you with your next woodworking project or if you want to collaborate with us to build out the business.

The Community Building:  The Bluestone Community Barn and meeting hall is a important facility to the vibrancy and function of the farm! This will be a hub for locals and far off travelers to gather together to share ideas, hear music, carry out farm work or to just relax with a cup of tea .  Peter van Geldern is the inspiration and head architect of this project.

Aquaponic Farm at Bluestone: Denton and Dorit Smith and family will be doing a combination of fish and plant production using aquaculture and hydroponics systems. They will be building their first tanks in 2015 and 2016. This is a very exciting program that not only involves fish and plant production but an opportunity to educate others on starting a fish farm.
